We're looking for an Accounting Specialist in Guadalajara, Mexico, to support the finance and accounting operations for our US and Mexico offices.

What You Will Do:

As an accounting specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with local regulations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare and maintain financial statements for Mexico, ensuring compliance with local accounting standards and government reporting requirements.
  • Issuing invoices from the Mexican entity to US companies and make monthly tie-outs, ensuring intercompany transactions and balances are accurate. Making sure all revenue invoices meet tax requirements for services to foreign companies.
  • Preparing various journal entries (expenses, payrolls, accruals, revenue, inter-entity, etc.) and analyzing financial statements, improving processes and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with MX and US GAAP, as required.
  • Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory filings in Mexico, including monthly and annual tax fillings for VAT,, Income Tax and additional Informative Fillings and compliance as required by Mexican authorities. Reviewing all expenses are invoiced accordingly to tax legislation.
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, reconciling discrepancies, and assuring monthly close is accurate and reporting information on time based on the US companies' periods close basis. Working closely with tax authorities ensuring all audits are being adequately solved and on time, by tax and legal deadlines.
  • Submit monthly VAT tax refunds based on accounting and tax information, performing work papers that contain all bank transactions and attaching support required to be included within the request.
  • Help the payroll team on solving IMSS, SAR or INFONAVIT audits or requirements to be submitted on time.
  • Yearly follow-up on Transfer Pricing Study and Actuarial Reports, as needed.
  • Perform monthly BS reconciliations before filling out taxes forms to SAT or reporting figures to the US company.
  • Fill out quarterly/annual fillings for Secretary of Economy requirements.
  • Perform weekly bank reconciliations, and support FP&A on cash forecasting on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Work together with the Mexican and US teams to put in writing our processes and help out to reach our quarter and yearly goals as a Finance team.

Your knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a Big 4 firm or a similar financial role.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican accounting standards, tax regulations, and government reporting.
  • Experience using Contpaqi for accounting and financial reporting is required.
  • Advanced Excel skills (functions, formulas, pivot tables).
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Innovative and proactive in identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Bonus qualifications (nice to have): Experience with U.S. GAAPs, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, or global finance teams.
  • Willingness to learn and work with Power BI for financial reporting and SQL for better information obtention.

What would make you an outstanding candidate:

  • Prior experience managing financial statements and delivering financial information to Director of Finance/Controller.
  • Stakeholder management skills and ability to work across global teams.
  • Familiarity with time entry or accounting software such as Sage Intacct, Bill.com or SAP.
