Commercial Risk
Commercial Risk Solutions offers risk advisory, risk transfer and structured solutions that help organisations and individuals better identify, quantify and manage their risk exposure.
Our Commercial Risk teams are responsible in helping clients protect their business in a world increasingly exposed to new risks, whether that’s extreme weather events or the emergence of AI, and Aon aims to provide a tailored approached to risk transfer as well as our extensive ability to support with risk management advice and services.
Join our Client Management - Commercial Risk Apprenticeship programme as a valued and permanent employee from day one. Working alongside your colleagues, you will be supporting clients in the management of their insurance programmes. This includes both the placement and supporting our clients with risk identification. You will have the unique responsibility of supporting with some well-known brand names, ensuring they have the insurance cover, which could include a wide range of insurance from property through to cyber.
We have apprentice opportunities in the following teams and locations.
For the London based apprenticeships, please note we will allocate you to a team once you have successfully completed an assessment centre. Please use the information below to support your research into the different teams.
Corporate Team
Locations: Redhill
Overview: We work with specialists across the UK to provide technical advice, programme strategy and discuss risk management proposals to our commercial clients from mid-range size to multinationals across a wide range of sectors. By reviewing their risks and exposures, we aim to minimise loss where possible.
Global Broking Centre Claims
Locations: Chelmsford
Overview: Our Global Claims teams at Aon handle claims for first advice to settlement, providing a bespoke service that best serves our clients needs. We work in a complex contractual environment, handling claims in all regions throughout the world, actively adding value throughout the claims process. Day to day we interact with clients, insurers, reinsurers, loss adjusters and internal Aon colleagues making this a truly exciting role.
Aon Underwriting Managers (AUM)
Locations: Chelmsford / Redhill
Overview: AUM is Aon’s in house managing general agent. They undertake underwriting, aggregation and claims handling services on behalf of insurers. We focus primarily on commercial insurance products across Accident and Health, Property and Casualty, Terrorism, Energy, Financial Lines and Marine sectors. Aon clients have a global footprint, so we work closely with a number of insurer partners in the UK (Company markets and Lloyd’s) to ensure we have the licensing capability to meet client needs
Your role as a Client Management – Commercial Risk Apprentice
As an apprentice, you will be working as a Business Support Specialist, and will play a key part in supporting clients and helping the team manage expectations and delivering on time for our clients.
You will be supported by your colleagues, some having experience of the Aon apprenticeship programme previously, and others who will provide coaching from their experience of working in the Insurance market for many years.
Prepare to make an immediate impact, as our structured training programme will build your knowledge of Aon and commercial insurance, as well as putting you through your industry recognised professional qualifications.
You will be supported to develop your professional skills and future career progression. During your apprenticeship through your skills development, you will build meaningful professional relationships with colleagues and clients.

As an Aon Apprentice you will be enrolled onto our development programme when you join. This programme is built around 3 core elements:
Building Relationships
With Aon business leaders playing an active role in our development, you're encouraged to make the most of every networking opportunity open to you. The early relationships you build will include:
Your Apprentice network – you'll meet Apprentices from all areas of Aon in the UK, helping you navigate our business and grow a support network from day one.
Your mentor – an experienced colleague who can help you out with career guidance, specific issues or any general thoughts or queries you have.
Business seniors – many experienced colleagues will be actively interested and involved in your development.
The Early Careers Team – here to help smooth the way, open doors and advise you on developing your knowledge, skills and prospects.
Your career beyond your Apprenticeship
Once you’ve completed the formal apprenticeship programme, you’ll continue to receive lots of support at Aon. We would expect you to be promotion ready within 18 to 24 months and you will continue to grow your career in the Insurance industry. You will also be able to continue your studies for the CII qualifications through to Chartered status. Alongside your development programme, we’ve mentioned above, you’ll have the chance to explore different career paths within Aon.

We recognise the value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme. As a new apprentice, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office to support your learning, development, and progression.
This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon. After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients.
