Garmin Private Cloud (GPC) is a private cloud solution focused on infrastructure automation, API development, platform service delivery, and self-service provisioning of IT resources for all internal Garmin associates. GPC will offer new platform solutions allowing consumers to rapidly build and deploy highly performant, scalable and resilient applications.
We are looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to join our DevTools team that is responsible for systems support and automation administration for the container platform and its associated development tools ecosystem.
We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a hybrid role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require at least 3 days in the office each week.

Responsibilities
- Look for opportunities to tune/improve the environment with modern solutions and drive excellence while working with other developers and stakeholders of the platform.
- Install, configure, and manage platform-related infrastructure and cluster services in an enterprise environment to support container-based application virtualization via GitOps Design.
- Find opportunities for automation, improved system stability, and performance improvements.
- Ability to take a “code first” approach to fully automate the deployment and management of cloud infrastructure and environments using Terraform and other tools.
- Interact with development teams to assist with onboarding to the platform and utilizing ecosystem development tools.
- Support development pipelines using tools like Tekton, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Github, GitLab, and Sonatype Nexus.
- Ability to troubleshoot an application load balancer.
- Perform general technical troubleshooting and consult with development teams.
- Follow and maintain system configuration documentation.
- Utilize correlated data sources to ensure maximum operational uptime and adherence to SLOs and SLAs.
- Experience with modern application cloud native development practices/application and systems architecture.
- Experience in shell scripting, Python, or Ansible development.
- Exposure to public cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience working with enterprise level container-based systems (OpenShift, Docker, CRI-O, Kubernetes, etc.), including associated on-prem infrastructure with support dedicated to OpenShift Platform systems (OCP, OCS, HAProxy, etc.), service mesh.
- Experience supporting Microservice and Cloud-native applications in a CI/CD automated, multi-tenant application environment with multiple partners and use cases.
- Experience in delivering applications to production with software development technologies, frameworks, and API development experience.
- Some programming experience in a Linux/Windows environment with at least one language like Golang, Python, Java, JavaScript, Rust, Groovy, or C/C++ .
- Systematic problem-solving approach and a sense of ownership and drive.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team with direct responsibilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changes in project scope.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with teammates and internal clients and quickly learn new technologies.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.
Would be a plus:
- Some experience with CI/CD and developer tools like Jenkins, Nexus, Bitbucket (Git), and Harbor.
- Experience with observability / logging using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic, Kafka, Splunk and Kibana.
- Good understanding of infrastructure such as network, storage, data retention, compute, load balancing, and virtualization.
