EPIC Early Learning is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Temporary Cook to join our team. Our organization is committed to providing quality early childhood education and care to children in Central Washington. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing healthy and nutritious meals for children, following USDA guidelines and our nutritional standards.

This temporary position is perfect for someone who is passionate about food and child nutrition and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. The Cook will work collaboratively with our kitchen team to ensure that meals are prepared safely and in a timely manner, contributing to the overall well-being of the children we serve.

Pay Level: $16.90- $17.41 (Hourly)

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals for children in accordance with established recipes and portion control.
  • Adhere to USDA guidelines for meal planning and preparation.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring a clean kitchen environment.
  • Assist in ordering and inventory management of food and kitchen supplies.
  • Collaborate with staff to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies.
  • Maintain clear records of meal preparation and inventory.
  • Participate in the training of kitchen staff as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Be committed to characterizing a culture of safety within our centers, playgrounds, buses and anywhere that children may be present. Be familiar with and encourage EPICs culture of “See Something, Say Something”.

1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

2. Minimum of one year of experience in a food service or kitchen setting.

3. Valid Food Handler’s Card required.

4. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.

5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.

6. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

8. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities.

9. Possess the ability to speak, read, and write in English; maintain accurate records; and demonstrate competence in basic arithmetic.

·         1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked

Conditions of Employment:

  1. Prior to employment, complete a pre-employment drug screen, Tb skin test by an EPIC approved healthcare provider at no cost to the employee.
  2. Pre-employment basic physical by an EPIC healthcare provider (obtain within (30) days of employment and no cost to the employee).
  3. Must pass an initial and periodic background check through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF).
  4. Provide proof of MMR vaccination and/ or resistance to Measles, Mumps & Rubella.
  5. Current Food Handlers card (obtain the training within 30 days of employment).
  6. Current First Aid/CPR card (obtain within thirty 30 days of employment).
  7. Complete Childcare Basics 30 hours STARS training within 3 months of hire
  8. Meet the minimum education requirements within the timeframe as stated in the performance standards.
  9. Complete Child Abuse and Neglect training and all other mandated training.
  10. CEO Approval.
