ELPEDISON, with its two privately-owned power plants in Thisvi (Voiotia) and Thessaloniki, with a total installed capacity of 820 MW, uses natural gas as fuel and ensures a clean and continuous electricity flow, based on a highly environmentally-friendly power generation process.

We are currently looking for an Energy Trader to be responsible for managing and optimizing energy trading positions in various markets and energy commodities to ensure profitability. The role involves making informed trading decisions in the short and medium term based on market trends, forecasts, and analysis of energy commodities such as power, gas, and EUAs. As part of the responsibilities, the candidate will model energy markets and analyze data in order to identify, implement and continuously improve trading strategies.

What will you do:

• Model energy markets and perform quantitative analysis in order to identify trading strategies in various energy commodities.
• Track market fundamentals, including generation capacity, fuel prices, weather, and policy developments in South-East Europe.
• Use technical analysis, quantitative models, and market intelligence to discover trends and patterns in various energy commodities.
• Develop analytic tools to facilitate operations and improve trading algorithms.
• Participate in cross border physical transmission rights’ auctions between countries.
• Engage with counterparties, brokers, and market participants to negotiate, settle trades and review contractual process.
• Maintain accurate records of all trades and positions for internal reporting and regulatory compliance.
• Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on market developments, trading performance, and strategies.
• Regularly interact with teams internally to discuss strategies, business implications, and market movements.

What you need to be successful:

• A BSc in Engineering or Mathematics
• At least 2 years experience in the modelling of energy sector and 1 year in technical analysis
• Knowledge of energy market simulation software (Plexos, EPSI) and R/Python programming strongly preferred
• Good understanding of energy markets
• Novelty seeking mind-set
• Strong energy modelling, quantitative and analytic skills
• Self-driven and motivated
• Experience in technical analysis
• Ability to communicate effectively across multiple teams and functions
