We are AMBOSS, and we’re looking for a Junior Backend Engineer. Engineers at AMBOSS are at the forefront of shaping user experience for doctors and students, helping them make critical decisions, ultimately impacting the healthcare of billions of people worldwide. We are looking for someone with a passion for getting the most out of technology and people, setting the pace and direction of excellence for engineering craft. Join our agile team on a mission to elevate AMBOSS  into a guided learning experience by giving users the right learning material and challenges at the right time.

You will:

• Join an agile, collaborative team and contribute to the development of our core product used by physicians  and medical students worldwide.
• Work on real features from day one – with support from experienced engineers to help guide your learning and growth.
• Write clean, maintainable code and tests.
• Learn best practices, like SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Participate in team discussions and planning sessions to help shape solutions and learn how technical decisions are made.
• Continuously learn by working with and learning from your teammates, with opportunities to grow your skills and knowledge over time.

You bring: 

• Some hands-on experience with PHP and MySQL – through studies, internships, previous jobs or personal projects – and an eagerness to learn modern frameworks like Symfony.
• A basic understanding of how web applications work (MVC pattern).
• Enthusiasm for writing clean code and an interest in learning software design principles and testing practices.
• Familiarity with Git and version control and a willingness to improve as you go.
• A proactive attitude, team spirit, and a genuine desire to grow your engineering skills in a supportive environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and open to feedback and mentorship.
