They work on investigative due diligence, litigation support and forensic investigation projects in support of matters such as clients’ M&A activity and dispute-resolution efforts. The best Researchers have a natural and wide-ranging curiosity and enjoy distilling complex information into concise and well-written reports.

Responsibilities:

Research and analysis

  • Conduct thorough OSINT and public record research and produce high-quality analysis that addresses clients’ key questions.
  • Identify potential sources of risk to clients.
  • Provide guidance to consultants on the availability and cost of public record information and advice on the optimum research approach, including social media research.
  • Review and improve the sources of information accessed by Control Risks, including identifying new tools and techniques.

Report-writing

  • Work closely with consultants to produce high-quality, client-ready reports (typically 10-30 pages in length) that help clients to make decisions.
  • Ensure that all reports are delivered according to agreed deadlines and within budget.

Marketing and business development

  • Conduct research and prepare material (e.g. client or sector briefs) to support marketing and business development activities
  • Portuguese and English language fluency (oral and written)
  • Bachelor’s degree (or local equivalent)
  • Passion for OSINT and internet research
  • Excellent investigative research and writing skills
  • Ability to summarise, process and communicate information clearly
  • Ability to think critically and unravel complex information
  • Keen interest in political and business trends across the Americas, especially in the Southern Cone
  • Understanding of common commercial transactions: IPOs, M&A, JVs etc
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong work ethic

Control Risks supports hybrid working arrangements, wherever possible, that emphasise the value of in-person time together - in the office and with our clients - while continuing to support flexible and remote working.

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.
