As a Senior Accountant, you will oversee the company’s financial operations, ensuring that all accounting processes are accurate and efficient. You will be responsible for processing revenue recognition, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, you must have a deep understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting frameworks. You will work closely with various teams across the company to ensure accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced environment and you’ll report to the US-based Senior Accounting Manager.

This role will be hybrid and based in our Budapest office.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) in accordance with Hungarian accounting regulations and international accounting standards (IFRS or GAAP).
• Process revenue recognition including deferred revenue.
• Process transactions for general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account management, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
• Manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and reconciliation of financial statements.
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with local tax laws and international standards.
• Ensure compliance with Hungarian tax laws, including VAT, corporate tax, and other local regulations and also assist in tax filings and audits.
• Coordinate with external auditors during the year-end audit process and provide Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in accounting systems and reporting tools.
• Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and other teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment for transactions.

WHAT YOU’ll BRING:

• Experience from multi-entity/multicurrency group structures is a plus.  
• A deep understanding of accounting principles, tax compliance and financial reporting.
• Identify how we can improve our current processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, ACCA, or other relevant certifications are a plus.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, at least 2-3 years in a SaaS, tech, or similar high-growth company a plus.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Hungarian accounting.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks) and ERP systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Solid understanding of Hungarian VAT and tax regulations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Previous start-up experience is a plus!
• Multilingual proficiency is a plus (Hungarian and English is required).
