We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Applications Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role combines responsibilities for managing the product development lifecycle and providing expert guidance on FEA applications.descWe are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Applications Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in using FEA software, a deep understanding of machining, a passion for innovation, and a proven ability to solve complex problems. This role combines responsibilities for managing the product development lifecycle and providing expert guidance on FEA applications.FEA Applications Engineering:Lead the creation of FEA DOE analyses across internal teams and utilize statistical methods to minimize the size and length of the analyses needed to reach definitive conclusions.Provide expert guidance and support to internal teams on FEA applications and best practices. Employ PDSA cycles where necessary.Prepare and present technical reports, research papers, and documentation on topics such as distortion, deflection, workpiece clamping, and work holding.Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and curiosity.Assist with technical demonstrations for both customers and internal teams.Stay up to date with the latest advancements in FEA technology and industry trends.Provide support on commercial projects and customer inquiries as needed.Software Product Ownership:Collaborate with the development and product quality teams to define project requirements and product specifications.Guide the implementation of new software technologies and features, ensuring they meet market standards and address customer needs.Collect and analyze customer feedback to improve and optimize the software's capabilities, performance, and user experience.Participate in scrum meetings and help prioritize tasks and activities.Monitor market trends, technology advancements, and competitor products to ensure the product remains competitive.Travel required; approximately 25% of the time, including domestic and international.This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic thinker who combines technical expertise with strong product management skills. Core Requirements:Demonstrate Third Wave’s core values (driven, takes pride, critical thinker, solution oriented, and collaborative).Possess a master's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.Be proficient in using one or more FEA software tools (e.g., AdvantEdge, ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, etc).Have a good level of machining knowledge, including a fundamental understanding of milling, turning, work holding, part distortion and deflection, etc. Exhibit familiarity with the automotive or aerospace markets.Additional Skills:Work experience in the manufacturing and/or machining fields is a major plus.
