We’re looking for a Lead Backend Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, building scalable systems, and mentoring high-performing engineering teams. In this role, you won’t just oversee code—you’ll write it. You’ll be responsible for designing and developing robust backend services using Java, Python, and Node.js while also leading and mentoring backend engineers. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends strategic thinking with day-to-day development responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, efficient, and reliable backend systems.
  • Lead end-to-end development of backend features, from architecture through implementation and deployment.
  • Collaborate closely with front-end developers, product managers, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code primarily using Java, Python, and Node.js.
  • Own the quality of the codebase through best practices such as code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and help raise the technical bar across the team.
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale while pushing code changes frequently.
  • Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and offer scalable solutions.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and help define the future technical direction of the backend stack.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of backend development experience with strong proficiency in Java, Python, and Node.js.
  • Proven experience in designing and deploying scalable and resilient systems in production environments.
  • Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices: agile methodologies, code reviews, testing, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical topics.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in high-growth startups or tech-driven product companies.
  • Exposure to serverless architectures, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), or event-driven systems.
  • Previous experience in leading or managing a small team of engineers.

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
