Job Description

The Senior Database Administrator will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the organization’s database infrastructure. Working closely with senior executives, IT teams, and external partners, this role ensures the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure database systems. With a focus on supporting business operations and analytics, the Senior DBA will lead efforts to modernize database platforms, enhance system performance, and ensure data integrity. The diverse technology landscape includes on-premises, cloud-based, and hybrid database environments, requiring expertise across all three to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, deploy, and maintain database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security.Develop strategies to modernize legacy databases and migrate to cloud-based or hybrid environments.Work with senior executives and IT teams to align database architecture with business goals and data strategies.Monitor and optimize database performance through advanced analytics, tuning, and query optimization.Design and implement robust backup, recovery, and business continuity plans to safeguard critical data.Ensure databases comply with regulatory standards and implement robust access controls and encryption mechanisms.Develop scripts and leverage tools to automate database management, monitoring, and reporting tasks.Provide guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.Lead integration projects, ensuring seamless data flow between platforms and supporting application development teams.Produce detailed documentation, diagrams, and guidelines to maintain consistency and compliance across the database environment. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Technical Expertise: Proven track record of 8+ years in database administration, managing enterprise-scale relational and non-relational databases across a wide range of platforms, including but not limited to SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and others. Database Architecture: Expertise in database design, data modeling, and performance tuning for both transactional and analytical systems. Cloud and Hybrid Solutions: Experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud Spanner) and hybrid environments. Security and Compliance: Strong knowledge of data encryption, GDPR, HIPAA, and other regulatory compliance requirements. Automation and DevOps: Hands-on experience with scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and database automation tools. Disaster Recovery: Advanced knowledge of backup and recovery techniques, including high availability solutions. Communication and Problem-Solving: Excellent communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently. Certifications: Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional, or AWS Certified Database Specialty are highly desirable. Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
