The Senior Engineer will independently lead and/or direct the characterization of process optimization strategies and troubleshooting of operational issues in operations, manufacturing, pilot plant, or capital projects environments. This role involves applying advanced engineering principles to design and implement major system modifications, experiments, and process/capital projects. The Senior Engineer will develop, organize, analyze, and present results interpretation for operational issues or engineering projects of significant scope and complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Develop engineering policies and procedures that affect multiple organizational units.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of engineers, associates, and/or technicians both on an ongoing and project basis.
  • Employ advanced engineering techniques within area of engineering expertise.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices outside of area of discipline expertise to broad assignments.
  • Serve as a peer-recognized engineering technology specialist in at least one area, with overall responsibility for determining methodologies in that area.
  • Plan and conduct projects using mature engineering knowledge.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity.
  • Collaborate with research, manufacturing, process development, utilities, facilities, quality assurance, and validation departments in developing requirements and recommendations for system/facility modifications.
  • Work with project managers to complete design and engineering projects within schedule, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Coordinate the work of consultants, architects, and engineering firms in developing standard design documents.
  • Develop departmental or project budgets encompassing multiple disciplines.

Competencies & Skills:

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech processes
  • Familiarity with validation processes
  • Experience with regulated documentation
  • Ability to operate specialized laboratory equipment
  • Ability to interpret and apply GLPs and GMPs
  • Ability to apply engineering science to production
  • Develop solutions to routine technical problems

Required Education & Experience:

  • Doctorate in Engineering OR
  • Master's degree + 2 years of engineering experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering + 4 years of engineering experience
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering field experience and supervising contractors.
  • Proficient with tools for creating presentations, preparing project schedules, and sharing updates.
  • Skilled in conducting equipment, structure, and piping inspections to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Ability to manage projects during their lifecycle, identifying and resolving technical issues effectively.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Highly organized with strong tracking abilities.
  • General understanding of electrical and equipment drawings/Isometrics.
  • No restrictions on performing inspections and walkdowns at various heights.
