The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) is the leading voice for the private sector in the Baltimore region, providing insightful economic and civic leadership to drive collective impact. Composed of more than 400 organizations, including large, mid-size, and small companies, nonprofits, foundations, and educational and healthcare institutions, the GBC is dedicated to fostering the prosperity of the Greater Baltimore region. 

In 2022, the GBC merged with the Economic Alliance, hiring new leadership after more than two decades.  In May 2023, the GBC announced a multi-year agenda to position the organization to:

Create and lead an economic path for the Greater Baltimore region.

Aggressively pursue game-changing opportunities.

Collaborate to transform the region’s transportation, infrastructure, and public safety challenges.

Foster a more equitable region.

The GBC announced 12 initiatives for 2024 - 2026:

Economic Opportunity

·       Develop a ten-year economic strategy to build consensus for the region’s economic future.

·       Develop the Greater Baltimore brand to amplify our dynamic regional assets and civic progress.

·       Partner with economic, community, and development leaders to ensure strategic investments in the region are successful.

·       Pursue game-changing opportunities and federal funding to advance equitable growth.

·       Partner with the public sector to support local, domestic, and foreign direct investment and expansion in the region.

Transportation and Infrastructure

·       Advance Baltimore’s Transit Future Campaign.

·       Advance major infrastructure investments in the region to better connect our communities and accelerate long-term opportunity.

·       Reduce gun violence.

·       Support Baltimore police officer retention and recruitment.

·       Tackle the vacancy issue in Baltimore City and support neighborhood redevelopment.

ORGANIZATION

The GBC’s staff structure includes five teams, with staff leads who report directly to the CEO.

Operations:

·       Fiscal, operational, and HR leadership for organization.

·       Support CEO, Board to establish corporate governance and execution of mission.

Strategy:

·       Shape and publish public policy, data-driven research, and bold strategies to support the region’s vitality and economic growth.

·       Proactively engage with elected officials, GBC Partners, and regional stakeholders to advance GBC’s agenda for economic development, transportation, vacant housing, and public safety.

Communications:

·       Shape GBC’s message and communications strategy. Grow and modernize our audience, improving how we interact with members, stakeholders, and amplify civic progress in Baltimore.

·       Execute the regional marketing and balance perspective on the Baltimore Region as a place to invest and expand.

·       Manage and solidify support for GBC’s events and engagement.

Partnerships:

·       Develop and establish GBC’s new membership and engagement model. 

·       Develop and orient GBC’s committee and member collaborations toward high-value impact.

·       Establish and manage partnerships with local, state, and national peers to advance the Greater Baltimore region.

Economic Investment:

·       Lead regional business retention, expansion, and recruitment efforts.

·       Lead regional business and real estate investment activation and attraction efforts.

·       Support the Baltimore Region's federal Tech Hub designation and the Regional Innovation Office. 

·       Work with public and private partners to support investment in regionally-significant activity centers and projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is a member of the Partnerships team working to:

Implement GBC’s new partnership and engagement model.

Develop and orient GBC’s committee and member collaborations toward high-value impact.

Establish and manage partnerships with local, state, and national peers to advance the Baltimore region.

Key Responsibilities:

·      Collaborate to drive the growth of new GBC partnerships and deepen engagement of current GBC partners.

·      Manage the organization’s online client relationship database (Glue Up) inputting new/prospective partner information, existing partner updates, and tracking of partner participation and engagement to ensure accuracy of organizational Partnership Directory and reliability of database information.

·      Issue, manage, and track member invoicing and develop/deliver regular reports on partnership revenue status.

·      Draft ongoing communications with partners, including welcome and thank you letters, invoicing, partner briefs, and partnership information materials.

·      Communicate to internal staff updates on new partner additions and relevant partner changes.

·      Serve as lead in managing the GBC partnership inbox to respond to and schedule meetings as necessary with existing and perspective partners.

·      Work collaboratively and across functional areas to assist with the promotion of events and opportunities for partner engagement/participation/sponsorship.

·      Support the GBC communications and operations teams for key meeting and event prep and execution.

·      Staff, as needed, committees, advisory panels, and task forces related to partnerships & development.

·      Participate in a variety of other activities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

·      Business development, fundraising and relationship management experience, including skills managing prospect lists, drafting formal business communications, and relationship stewardship.

·      Deep customer relationship management (CRM) database experience, including daily data input, data integrity and overall management 

·      Relevant experience in a membership or membership-like organization serving the private sector, in anonprofit, education or economic development environment.

·      Experience working in a startup-like environment

·      Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Office 365 experience preferred.

·      Strong written and verbal communications skills.

·      High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

·      High level of customer service acumen and ability.

·      Desire and ability to work with cognitively diverse teams to produce high-quality, results-oriented work products.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000/year. Potential for annual bonus based on performance. Salary commensurate withqualifications and experience.
