Shared Dairy Manager – Dorset

• 3 years of dairy experience
• AI and Foot Trimming experience preferred

Our Farm

We are a 1600-acre dairy farm with a herd of 950 award-winning pedigree Holsteins.  We won the Gold Cup in 2016 and pride ourselves on our commitment to high welfare, well-bred cows. We milk three times a day through a Bomatic 90-degree rapid exit 40/40 parlour, yielding 12,800 litres per year and we calve all year round. We utilise Uniform and Feedlync systems and our milk is supplied to Muller.

Your role

The role will be working alongside the joint dairy farm manager and the farm owner. We choose to operate the farm with two managers to share the workload and support us in accessing wider skill sets to care for our herd and staff.

We are open to developing an individual if you possess ambition and commitment.

You will be responsible for:

• Daily care of the pedigree Holstein herd, ensuring a high standard of welfare, health and performance.
• Utilising data to improve performance metrics, including milk yield, fertility and health.
• Managing calving procedures, breeding programmes and youngstock rearing.
• Liaising with vets, nutritionists and consultants, to enhance performance.
• Maintaining compliance, audit trails, and industry standards.
• Collaborating with your team, ensuring a smooth operation.

• A full UK Driving license.
• Proof of UK right to work
• Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of breeding programmes and genetic improvement
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of animal health, welfare and nutrition
• Effective communicator with excellent organisational and problem solving skills.
• Possess high attention to detail taking pride in your working environment
• Be a reliable, punctual and trustworthy individual
