About the Opportunity:

First Help Financial, recently voted as a "Great Place to Work" for the third year in a row is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our highly skilled and innovative team. First Help Financial is embarking on a new growth phase involving multiple game-changing projects. To fuel such innovation, we are seeking a full-time, contract senior software engineer to lead important technology and security projects that impact the entire enterprise as well as its clientele. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Frontend Languages, System Design, DevOps best practices, high standards of code quality, and a background in Computer Science. The candidate should be customer obsessed, love to help others, be a team player, and be able to mentor juniors. The candidate should also be able to handle a distributed team.

What you will do:

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Designs and develops major functional or performance enhancements for existing products or produces new software products or tools.
• Becoming a subject matter expert for our Loan Origination Systems with an ability to explain and improve complicated code bases and assist with troubleshooting complex problems
• Take a lead role in steering architecture to scale technology and process to a high scale and quality.
• Work closely with stakeholders in various internal groups to help balance delivery speed and quality.
• Mentor and train junior developers to maximize team velocity.
• You will be a developer on an Agile team, working closely with Product Owner, Scrum Master, and other engineers, to review and qualify business requirements, functional (and non-functional) specifications, use-cases, and test plans.
• Drive full cycle end-to-end development from design through production rollout
• Design, prototype, and author code for software components and applications. Continue to iterate to optimize customer experience
  

What you bring:

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Master’s is a plus.
• 2+ years’ experience in developing world-class distributed systems.
• 2+ years’ experience with full stack development (React, Typescript, Python, java).
• 2+ years’ experience with relational databases such as MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• Experience working in an Agile team
• Good knowledge of DevOps & collaboration tools: CircleCI, Jenkins, GIT, Sonarqube, etc.
• Familiarity with System Design and Design Patterns: A solid understanding of system design is essential. The ideal candidate should be capable of designing and developing scalable and resilient infrastructure components that align with the organization's goals.
• Experience with deconstructing complex problems into modular simple solutions.
• Strong understanding and discipline around software test approach.
• Strong sense of dedication and teamwork toward a goal.
• Experience in Financial Services Industry.
• Experience with Cloud Technologies like AWS S3, RDS, ELB, etc.
• Experience with containers and developing containerized applications using Docker.
• Experience with Domain Drive Design
• Experience with Event-Driven Architecture
• Deep knowledge of AWS ecosystems and tools
