Apply NowThe Dearborn Youth Symphony (DYS) is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Executive Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and lead efforts in outreach, membership recruitment, and community engagement. This role offers a unique opportunity for a passionate individual to help shape the future of music education and youth orchestras in the Dearborn area.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit management, fundraising, and community outreach, with experience in marketing, communications, and event coordination. This person will work closely with DYS conductors, mentors, interns, Facility staff, and the Board of Directors to ensure the success of DYS programs. ResponsibilitiesOperational Management:Oversee daily operations of DYS, ensuring smooth execution of programs and events. Manage database, maintain communication with membership and other stakeholders, oversee volunteers, prepare for events throughout the season include concerts. Outreach and Recruitment:Develop and execute strategies to recruit new members and increase visibility of DYS in the local community.Build and maintain relationships with music teachers, schools, and studios in the metro Detroit area. Marketing & Public Relations:Write and distribute press releases and promotional materials.Coordinate social media, website updates, and other communication efforts to promote DYS’s mission and events with the marketing committee. Fundraising and Grant Writing:Lead fundraising initiatives and grant writing efforts to secure funding for programs and operations. Proven experience in nonprofit management or a related field, ideally in the arts or music education.Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.Strong communication, writing, and public relations skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.Familiarity with database management and office tools (e.g., Google Drive, SignUp Genius, basic website management).A passion for music education and youth development.Ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders.Experience in developing strategies and plansAbility to apply successful fundraising and networking techniques.
