The Long-Term Energy Analyst focuses on helping the implementation of the company's energy long-term strategic business goals and is responsible for analyzing market trends, price movements, and fundamental drivers in the forward markets of South-East Europe. As part of the responsibilities, the Long-Term Energy Analyst will model energy markets providing insights to support trading strategies, risk management decisions, and overall business planning. The candidate should be highly analytical with competency in energy modelling and data analysis.
Responsibilities

  • Model energy markets and perform quantitative analysis in order to provide rolling forecasts for electricity prices used in the strategic planning of the Company
  • Track market fundamentals, including generation capacity, fuel prices, weather, and policy developments in South-East Europe
  • Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
  • Develop analytic tools to facilitate operations
  • Assist the development and creation of medium and long-term strategies that help the Company to achieve power business and development objectives
  • Participate in process for retail/wholesale hedge portfolio
  • Analyze sets of data to quantify profit and supports decision-making related to Company's portfolio
  • Regularly interact with teams internally to discuss strategies, business implications, and market developments, which affect the power business
  • Monitor weather, load, price behavior, transmission constraints/outages, and generation outages to identify risks to the Company position and take appropriate actions to mitigate portfolio risk
  • Identify opportunities for long term power trading, communicates with counterparties and reviews contractual process
Requirements
  • BSc in Engineering or Mathematics
  • MSc in related field will be highly desirable
  • 2-5 years of proven experience in the energy sector
  • Proven experience in energy modelling
  • Knowledge in R and/or Python or any statistical software will be an asset
  • Excellent user of MS Office Suite, with specialization in MS Excel
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral
  • Strong quantitative, analytic, modelling, pricing and risk management skills
  • Self-drive and motivation
  • Interest in applying technology and quantitative skills to solve complex trading problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple teams and functions
