ActionAid Hellas (AAH) is searching for a Social Worker, to join a global movement of committed individuals working to further human rights and defeat poverty. We are an independent, international organization that has been working since 1972.

The scope of this role:

Support and guide beneficiaries in order to meet their needs and help them handle everyday life issues according to AAH Community Centre’s plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake interviews with individuals to assess their situation (full social history taking)
  • Administer the CRM database i.e., entry of beneficiaries’ personal data and ensure that all information needed is complete and up to date.
  • Provide face-to-face counselling, guidance and help beneficiaries handle everyday life problems and accompany them to various services
  • Gather relevant information about the cases, providing action plan and making referrals to other agencies and services if necessary.
  • Coordinate and implement support packages to help beneficiaries and their families
  • Identify vulnerabilities and ensure proper case management
  • Research for appropriate public assistance resources
  • Follow up on all cases that are attended or referred. Monitor and evaluate the progress and modify action plans accordingly
  • Ensure that all potential beneficiaries are provided with relevant information regarding programs and activities.
  • Support front desk operations on a biweekly basis during the afternoon shift, including managing the registration process, providing orientation on programs and services, handling reception activities (phone calls, emails, and inquiries), administering the CRM database to ensure all records are accurate and up to date, and ensuring the Centre is closed according to schedule.
  • Develop a referral network with other organizations and service providers and communicate effectively with key community stakeholders including external partners, public services, other agencies, organizations and public care teams
  • Promote community engagement through structured activities implemented within the Centre.
  • Prepare and provide monthly reports regarding the Community Centre's Social Service according to AAH principles and requests.
  • Proactively provide alternative course of action and contingency plans if necessary
  • If required, monitor allocated budget activities and expenditures and adapt accordingly through the year.
  • Support other organization’s priority activities, when necessary
  • Act as an ActionAid Ambassador
  • Academic degree in social work, including license to practice
  • At least two (2) years of working experience as a Social Worker
  • Working knowledge of social theories and practices
  • Demonstrated experience in working with marginalized or vulnerable population
  • Excellent use (both oral & written) of the Greek and the English language
  • Excellent use of the MS Office, experience in CRM Systems and use of related data base, preferably ERP
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines
  • Problem-solving mindset and active listening
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Human oriented personality
  • Volunteer experience will be considered an asset
  • Very good understanding of human rights, global poverty & development issues
